BEARS
We are coming along with our study about bears.  We learned that there are 8 different kinds of bears in the world and that 3 of them live in Canada.

FLASH CARDS
The grade 2's have been working on their addition facts with flash cards.  They will be bringing them home sometime this week.  PLEASE practice them with your child at home many, many times.  Memorization of basic facts has been put back into the Manitoba curriculum and fast recall of the facts is an asset for math in the higher grades.

ART - This week in art we talked about making pictures with positive and negative spaces.

SCIENCE
We have finished up our science unit about the seasons.  There are some information pyramids displayed on the hallway bulletin board which tell about the different ways in which animals can survive he winter.  Here are few photos.

Our next science unit is about the "Characteristics and Needs of Living Things".  We are going to focus our study on BEARS.

UPCOMING FIELD TRIP
We do have a field trip planned for February.  We will be going to the Manitoba Museum on Friday, February 27.  If any parents would like to come with us, I hope that this gives you enough time to plan around your work schedule.

SILLY SNOWMEN
At our Christmas Party on the last day of school before the holiday, we had teams try to make a snowman out of one of their team-mates by wrapping them in toilet paper (this is much harder than you think) and then add buttons, hats and scarves. Good work teams!
