REMINDERS - NO SCHOOL on Friday, December 4 (Homework/Spelling Test on Thursday)
                         - Field Trip to MTYP on Tuesday, December 8

FIELD TRIP
We will be going to the MTYP (Manitoba Theatre for Young People) next week on Tuesday, December 8 in the morning.  We will be seeing a play called "James and the Giant Peach" based on the book by Roald Dahl.  We will need parent drivers/chaperones.  If you are available, please fill out the appropriate portion of the permission form.  Please make sure you visit the office and check with Mrs. Madden to see if your license and insurance information is up to date BEFORE THE FIELD TRIP DATE.  We will be leaving the school around 9:00 am and returning around 11:30 am.  Please return the permission form to school by Thursday, December 3.

DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE YOUR CHILD'S CAR SEAT AT SCHOOL ON TUESDAY, DEC. 8

MITTEN TREE
If you would like to support our mission project, please send a pair of mittens to school to add to our Mitten Tree.  These mittens will be given to the "Koats for Kids" collection.  Our Tree is filling up!

THE THREE LITTLE PIGS
The grade 2 reading group came to our classroom and performed a short play last week.  They did a wonderful job reading and acting out the story of The Three Little Pigs.

COMMUNITY WORKERS
We also had three guest speakers (parents) last week. They came to tell us about their jobs in the community.  The children had lots of interesting questions for our guests.  Thank you for coming to visit our classroom!

JOURNEY WITH JESUS
This month we found an extra jacket in our Chapel Backpack.  We learned about how Jesus puts His "Robe of Righteousness" over us.  We made snowflakes on a black robe to represent how we are washed and forgiven and become whiter then snow.

What's New in One and Two? November 23 - 27, 2015

REMINDERS - Student-led Conferences on Tuesday, Nov 24 and Wednesday, Nov 25

COMMUNITY WORKERS
A couple of weeks ago I sent home a pink sheet asking if there were any parents who might be interested and available to come into our classroom and tell us a little bit about their jobs.  Is there anyone who would still like to come but has not contacted me yet?  We still have spaces open.  Please let me know if you would like to come.  Thanks.

MITTEN TREE
Last week our class made posters for the school, asking for help in bringing in mittens for our Mitten Tree.  We will be collecting mittens for the "Koats for Kids" campaign.  There is a wooden tree in the front hall and we are asking families to bring in a pair of mittens.  Our red posters will be put up this week and we will be collecting the mittens for the next two weeks.  Thanks for your help.

The Colours of Us - We read this book last week.  It is all about the beautiful, different colours that we all are and how God made us special.  We each chose and helped mix the different colours of brown to paint our skin and then painted our self-portraits.  We learned about how heads are not round but oval shaped and how our eyes and ears were in the middles of our faces, not near the tops.  Here are our portraits.  Take a look.  They are also hanging on our hallway bulletin board.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY                NYAH                               November 7

PUMPKIN PARTY
We had lots of fun at our Pumpkin Party last Friday.  Thank you to all of the snack parents.  Everything was delicious.  Thanks to our parent helper - Robin (a.k.a. Mrs. Gauthier).  The children had lots of fun looking at all of the costumes.

SCIENCE
We have been talking about "washing hands" and "germs" in class lately so we have started a science experiment.  First we went outside and played on the structures and rubbed our hands in the dirt.  Next we coughed into our hands.  Then we each got a slice of potato and rubbed it all over our hands and then put the potato slices into a Ziplock bag.  Lastly, we put the bags into our dark closet for 2 weeks.  We are going to find out what happens to the potatoes.  It should be interesting.

PUMPKIN MATH
We carved a couple of pumpkins last week but first we used them for math.  We measured how many blocks tall the pumpkins were.   We measured how big around they were and how much they weighed.  We also tested whether or not the pumpkins floated and rolled.
