BUSY MONTH of FEBRUARY
We have had a very, very busy "I Love to Read" month.  Thank you for all of your support with our dress-up days, Valentine's Day party, Festival du Voyageur activities, and for helping your child create a diorama at home.  Even if you did not have a chance to complete one, all of the students enjoyed sharing and viewing each other's dioramas on display in the chapel area.

OWL PROJECTS
Everyone has completed their owl research projects and we are beginning to present and share them with the whole class.  We will be able to learn something about 15 different kinds of North American owls.  We have also been busy painting our life-sized owl portraits and an "owl habitats"mural in the hallway.  It should be completed this week.  On Monday, March 16 we are having 2 real owls come to visit our classroom from Wildlife Haven (one great-horned owl and one great-gray owl). It should be very exciting.

MATH
We are starting a new math unit this week about measurement.

OWL RESEARCH
We have been busy this week working on our owl research projects.  We are answering these five questions - What do they eat?  What kind of nest do they use?  Where do they live?  What do they look like? And finding one interesting fact about their specific owl.

GUM AT SCHOOL
We are having some problems with the students bringing gum to school.  They are sharing it with some of their friends and not sharing it with other friends and it is causing arguments and hurt feelings - so ... for now I would please ask that the children do not bring any more gum to school.  Thanks so much for your help.

DIORAMAS
How are the dioramas coming at home?  We are hoping that most of the families will be able to make a diorama about a favourite story and then bring it to school on the last Wednesday of the month, (Feb. 26) to share with the whole school.  If you have more than one child, you can certainly make one "family" diorama all together.

PHOTO GALLERY - There is a sample diorama about the book "Owls in the Family" displayed in the hallway across from the office.
