TASKS FOR TERRY
Your child should have brought home a "Tasks For Terry" sheet last week.  If your family would like to participate, please write out the helpful activities that your child has done over the last week and tape a coin to each finger.  Then return the sheet on the day of our Terry Fox Walk (Thursday).  Please wear your blue school shirt on this day.
If  your child would like to "Wear a Hat" on the walk, please tape a loonie to the spot on the bottom of the sheet.  All of the money raised will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation.

PRACTICE EVACUATION
We will be having a practice evacuation this Friday, September 30.  The staff and students will be practicing an evacuation of our school and walking over to Nordale School which is where our school would be taking the children if a real evacuation was ever needed.

This year our reading buddies are Ms. Whitney's grade 5 and 6 class.

I am sending home an information letter and permission form on Monday.  This is for our field trip to the Narcisse Snake Pits.  We will be going on Tuesday, September 27 for the whole day.  We will definitely need parent drivers for this field trip.  The grade 2/3 class will be coming with us too.  If you are available to drive, please fill out that portion of the permission form (and no, you do not have to pick up or hold a snake, unless you want to).

Well, we have started our second week of school for the year!  Thank you parents for labeling all of the school supplies.  I know that it is a big job.  Please send a change of clothes with your child to leave in their lockers (in case of accidents). 

A couple of reminders -
- Froggy Bags should be "hopping" back and forth from school to home and back every day.
- If you would like your child to be able to purchase items from the canteen, please send $10 for a canteen card.  You can limit the type of items they can buy (ex - milk only).  Just send a note along with the money.
- Our class guinea pig, Muffin, loves to eat!  If the children would like to share a snack with her, a baby carrot, a piece of cucumber or a grape, etc... would be welcome.  She eats all kinds of fruits and vegetables.
- I sent home the Scholastic book orders for September on Monday.  If you would like to place an order, please return the forms by this Friday, September 16.

This year we have 17 students in our grade one class.  There are 10 boys and 7 girls.
