LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL SCHEDULE-
We have a very busy last week of school schedule coming up.
I can't believe that the year is almost over.  We have had such a great year of learning together.  Thanks for sharing your wonderful children with me.

Monday, June 24 - Outside Activities Day in the afternoon - send a sunhat and wear sunscreen
Tuesday, June 25 - Talent Show in the afternoon - children need to sign up beforehand
Wednesday, June 26 - Grade 8 graduation ceremony in the afternoon
Thursday - June 27 - Kindergarten graduation in the morning
                                  - Awards ceremony in the afternoon
                                  - End-of-year classroom parties
                                  - Report cards are sent home
Friday, June 28 - No School - First day of summer holidays

END-OF-YEAR PARTY TREATS
We will be having an end-of-the-year class party on the last day of school - Thursday, June 27.  I haven't assigned any particular families to bring treats for this day because it is often difficult to know who will be here on that last day so ... anyone who would like to send in some treats for our party, is welcome to send something in to school that day.  Thanks for your help.

ADDITION FLASH CARDS
I sent home a set of small addition flashcards (in a ziplock bag) that the children have been practising here at school.  Please help your child practice their addition facts over the summer.  This is a very important skill to have (memorized math facts) when they move into higher grades at school.

FLAT-STANLEYS
Some of our Flat-Stanley people have returned to school already.  If you have a chance, please remind your visiting family that we would like to have them back at school as soon as possible so that we have time to read about their travels and post them on our map of Canada bulletin board in the hallway.

TAKE A LOOK FOR BOOKS
Please start looking around your house for classroom books.  My books should all have my name sticker on them.  I would like the books returned to school soon so we can organize them.  The children should be finishing up their Reading Bingo booklets this week too. (as far as they are able)

                   - NO SCHOOL - Friday, June 14
                   - Field Trip to Oak Hammock Marsh - Monday, June 17 - all day

SPRING CONCERT
Next week is our annual Spring Concert.  Please have your child here at the school at 6:00 and drop them off in their classroom.  We have our concert outside so please bring lawn chairs and/or blankets. Also, make sure your child brings their violins!  If your child will not be able to attend this event, please let Mr. B and Mrs. Petkau know ahead of time.  The We Care Club will be selling frozen treats that night to raise money.
ALSO - That week, starting on Monday, June 3, there will be a Scholastic Book Fair in the gym.

SUMMER WEATHER
Please put sunscreen on your child in the morning before school.  You may want to send an extra bottle to leave in their lockers so they can reapply it later on in the day.  Please send a sun hat to school as well.  The summer weather is finally here!

FIELD TRIP
We will be going on our final field trip to Oak Hammock Marsh on Monday, June 17.  This will be an all day trip and they will need to bring a lunch along.  We will also need parent drivers for this trip.  I will be sending more information and the permission form home soon.

FLAT-PEOPLE
We mailed out our flat-people last week so hopefully they will be arriving at their Canadian city destination homes this week.  We can't wait to get them back!

Learning's Fun ~ In Grade One! April 23, 2019

POPCORN
The We Care Club is selling bags of popcorn to raise money for The Children's Hospital this Thursday, April 25.  If your child would like to buy some popcorn, you may send in $2.  If you want to send in the money earlier, I do have a list of names and a money bag on my desk (for safe-keeping).  They will be delivering the popcorn after lunch on Thursday (to eat outside at recess).  Thanks

EASTER PARTY
Our class Easter party will be on Friday, April 26, during last period.
The snack parents for this party are - Shae, Zac, Mrs. Petkau, Mrs. Bennet

SOCIAL STUDIES
As part of our next social studies unit called "Connecting with Others" we will be sending letters to people in different places around Canada and asking them to send us back some information about their own community.  In order for this to work, each child needs the name and address of a family member or family friend who would be willing to participate with this activity.  If you could get in touch with someone who you think would be a good partner for your child, please ask them if we could have their name and address.  I would like it if they lived somewhere in Canada (not Winnipeg) but if you do not have anyone available, please let me know and I will find a partner for your child.
We won't be starting this project for a few weeks but please send in the name and mailing address of your child's partner as soon as you are able.
