Learning's Fun ~ In Grade One! September 9, 2019

Hi Grade One Parents,

Welcome to our Grade One Blog.  I will be posting photos and writing a little about what is new in our classroom.  When there is a new post, I will e-mail you and let you know so that you can check it out.

Our first week of school is off to a great start.  We have been working on getting to know each other,  the schedule, routines and expectations for grade one.  I was pretty tired last week so I'm sure your children were too!  It might take a few weeks to get back into the swing of things.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!                 Elyck - September 18                  Jack - September 20

HOMEWORK
I sent home a one page math homework sheet today.  I usually send homework home on Mondays and it is due on Fridays.  Your child can bring it back earlier if they are finished.  They might need some help reading the directions but should be able to do the work more independently.

SUMMER MEMORY BAGS
Please send these to school ASAP.  We are sharing our summer memory bags this week, a few each day.  Thank you for helping us out with this activity.

PEANUT and TACO
Our pet guinea pigs are staying in the grade 2/3 classroom.  One of our grade one students is allergic to fur.  But we are still feeding them treats at snack time and I am working on finding a way to have the grade ones take turns holding them too.

CANTEEN
The canteen will be opening next week Monday for lunch time.  If you would like your child to be able to buy items from the canteen (you can also choose not to), they will need to bring in $10 for a canteen card.  This card stays in the canteen and money amounts get crossed off as they buy food items.  You may put restrictions on the card if you wish.  For example - "white milk only" or "only to use on Fridays for a treat", etc...  A complete list of canteen items available and the prices will be sent home at a later date.
