What's New in One and Two? June 29,2016

Reminders - Last Day of school party - Thursday, June 30 in the afternoon
SNACKS - Anyone who would like to bring something for our party

WHEW!  We've almost made it.  Tomorrow is the last day of school (for this year).  I wanted to thank all of the parents who helped out in our classroom this year, drove on field trips, helped with hot lunches and PIP events, send in supplies for projects, helped with reading and homework and supported our classroom activities in so many way.  I appreciate all of your help and kindness.
God's blessings to all of you and may you have a safe and enjoyable summer.

I hope you found the last couple of art/science projects in amongst all of the things your child has brought home this week.  There should have been four pieces of pottery and a butterfly mobile.
Keep an eye out over the summer for any class books and return them in the fall.

The best homework for over the summer is to read, read, read, everyday and keep a summer journal (writing and pictures) of what they have done everyday.

Here are some photos of our last field trip to Oak Hammock Marsh.

Here is a photo from our Great Canadian Cereal Box Car Derby.

READ-A-THON
Thank you to all of the families who supported our Read-a-thon.  We had lots of fun reading outside as a whole school and choosing which literacy baskets to try to win.  Congratulations to all of the winners!

SPRING CONCERT
I have a few photos of the Spring Concert.  But mine are of the dress rehearsal which took place outside at an earlier time.

BABY FIONA
Mrs. Culley and baby Fiona came for their second "Seeds of Empathy" visit.

BUTTERFLIES
Our caterpillars have now all transformed into their chrysalis stage.  We just have to wait now (a week or 10 days) before our butterflies emerge.  These are Painted Lady butterflies and we will release them after observing them for a few days.

ART
Our "Japanese Bridge and Water Lily Pond" paintings have been hanging up on the hallways bulletin board since the Spring Concert.  Hopefully you had a chance to see them.  These painting are inspired by the artist Claude Monet and his water lily paintings.

We have also been working on a number of clay pieces for art.  We made a pinch pot, a coil pot, a clay animal and a cross medallion.  These pottery pieces are off to the kiln to be fired.

OUR TRIP TO THE AVIATION MUSEUM
We had a great field trip to the Aviation Museum.  Thank you to all of the parents who drove and stayed with us.  We learned a lot about Position and Motion.  The highlight was building and testing our own Lego vehicles (using wheels and axles).
Thank you to Lawrence's dad for sharing these photos with us.
