What's New in One and Two? January 12 - 16, 2015

Reminders - NO SCHOOL on Friday, January 16

HAPPY BIRTHDAY                               SACHA                                    January 8

SCIENCE
We have finished up our science unit about the seasons.  There are some information pyramids displayed on the hallway bulletin board which tell about the different ways in which animals can survive he winter.  Here are few photos.

Our next science unit is about the "Characteristics and Needs of Living Things".  We are going to focus our study on BEARS.

UPCOMING FIELD TRIP
We do have a field trip planned for February.  We will be going to the Manitoba Museum on Friday, February 27.  If any parents would like to come with us, I hope that this gives you enough time to plan around your work schedule.

SILLY SNOWMEN
At our Christmas Party on the last day of school before the holiday, we had teams try to make a snowman out of one of their team-mates by wrapping them in toilet paper (this is much harder than you think) and then add buttons, hats and scarves. Good work teams!

What's New in One and Two? December 17, 2014

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!          Mason          December 15

LAST WEEK
We are having such a busy last week of school before Christmas!  We've been painting, gluing, packing, singing, practicing and wrapping.  As you probably already know, I did not send any homework for this week.  There is no homework over the holiday except to do some home reading.  They are all coming along so well with their reading and I don't want them to slip backwards over the break.

HAMPERS
Thank you to the families who volunteered to bring gifts for our class hamper children and to the family who volunteered to deliver it on Friday.

Here are some photos of our class and their grade 6 reading buddies helping to pack hampers in the gym earlier this week.

BIRD FEEDERS
I case you couldn't guess, the pinecone covered with lard and sunflower seeds that is in your child's backpack today, is a bird feeder to hang up in their yard.  We needed to make something that would help an animal survive during a certain season for our Seasonal Changes science unit.

Have a joyous Christmas and a blessed New Year.  See you in 2015!

What's New in One and Two? December 8 - 12, 2014

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Next week is our Christmas Concert.  The children have been working very hard on their songs and we have some new surprises in store for you this year.
The concert will be held on Thursday, December 18.  The children need to be at the Caboto Centre by 5:45 pm.  Do not forget to bring along their violins and shoes.  The children should be dressed in Christmas "dressy" clothes.  The children can be checked in with the teachers at the side room and the parents and family can then find a place to sit.  The concert begins at 6:30.
If you are able, they are asking for dainties to share after the concert.  If you can, please e-mail the admissions office and let them know that you will be sending dainties.  Parents may drop off their dainties that Thursday during the day and they will be transported to the Caboto Centre from school.

HAMPERS
Your child should have brought home a slip of paper with a few hamper food items listed last week.  Please bring in these items by this Friday, December 12.  If you are unable to bring in the hamper food, please e-mail me and I will make sure the items are brought in for the hamper.  Our Christmas Cheer Board family has two boys, ages 7 and 11.  If you would like to send a gift for one of the boys, that would be wonderful.  I am also looking for a family to deliver the hamper.  Please let me know if you are interested.

CHRISTMAS PARTY
Our class Christmas Party will be on the last day of school before the break - Friday, December 19.
The snack parents for this party are -
SNACKS - Emerson, Evan, Hayden, Jacob     DRINKS - Jared
There are 20 children in our class and please remember the "NO NUT" policy.

CHRISTMAS CARDS
Our class made 40 Christmas cards for the seniors living in River Park Gardens.
