What's New in One and Two? May 4 - 8, 2015

CLASS PARTY
Our movie/pj's/stuffies/hotdog party on Friday was lots of fun.  Thank you to Owen's family for loaning us the movie and thank you to Andy's mom and Grandma for cooking the hotdogs.

EARTH DAY
We made posters for Earth Day that show ways in which we can help our planet.  We also made the "earth" out of coffee filters painted with blue and green paint.

EGGS to TADPOLES

FLAT-STANLEY
Our Flat people are all made.  We have written a letter and addressed the envelopes.  On Monday, we will be sending them off in the mail for their visits across Canada.  Hopefully in a few weeks they will start to return home to Winnipeg.  As they return, the students will be sharing their flat-person's adventures with the whole class.

What's New in One and Two? April 20 - 24, 2015

SOCIAL STUDIES
We have been working on our latest Social Studies unit about Canada and mapping.  We designed and named our own islands.  Here are some photos of our maps.

Both the Ones and Twos are working on a new math unit - all about measurement.

WELCOME BACK
Hopefully you had a joyful and restful Spring Break.

EASTER PARTY
Our class Easter Party will be on Friday, April 10 in the afternoon.  The snack parents are - Owen, Riel, Sacha and Mrs. Petkau  ~ Drinks - Yan.  There are 20 children in the class.

SOCIAL STUDIES
We have finished up with our "Design process" science unit and everyone really enjoyed our country week about Canada's First Nations People.
Next up is our social studies unit on "My Environment"  where we will be taking a look at Manitoba, Canada and mapping.

EASTER
The children worked with a partner to create murals that tell the Easter Story.  They are displayed over the lockers in the chapel area.  Here are some photos.

 

 

Here are some photos of our last design project - building something for Jack to climb back up to the castle after the beanstalk has been cut down.  We used toothpicks and marshmallows.
