SUMMER MEMORIES BAG
The children should have brought home a small brown paper bag on Friday, along with a green letter explaining what to do with it.  Please place 3 or 4 small items from home (that will fit into the bag) that will help them tell about their summer memories.
For example - this rock reminds me of going to the beach, this picture reminds me of spending the night at grandma's house, this name tag reminds me of when I went to space camp ...
We'll be sharing a few them each day.  Thanks for your help.

MATH HOMEWORK
I am sending home a sheet of math homework (on Monday) for the grade ones to do.  I usually send homework on Mondays and it is due back at school on Fridays.  You and your child can choose when is the best time/day to complete the homework.  They may need some help with the directions.

CANTEEN CARDS
The canteen will be open this week during the first 10 minutes of lunch (12:00).  If you would like your child to have a canteen card, you need to send $10 to the office.  The canteen workers will have the cards in the canteen and will mark off the amount of money your child's order costs.  You can ask for restrictions on the card if you wish (example - white milk only, only use on Fridays for a treat, ..)

VIOLIN
If your child has their violin, Mr. B says that they can start bringing them to school everyday now.

NEW FRIEND IN GRADE ONE
We have a new girl in our grade one class starting tomorrow.  Her name is Desayo.  She is Mahfuz's cousin and we are very happy to welcome her and her family to our school.

Learning's Fun ~ In Grade One! September 4, 2018

Hi Grade One Parents,

Welcome to our grade one class BLOG!
I'll be sharing photos and information with you about what's happening in our classroom throughout the school year.  I'll send you an e-mail message when there is a new posting on our class blog.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow.

FROGGY BAGS
Your child will be bringing home their "Froggy Bags" on the first day of school.  This bag hops back and forth between school and home everyday.  This is where you will find notes, books, homework, etc..  It helps keep papers together, dry and less squished. Please check it everyday.

MUFFIN
We have a pet guinea pig who lives in our classroom.  Her name is Muffin.  She is six years old and she loves treats.  If your child would like to share/bring her a little treat, she has a snack when we have our snack time each day.  She likes any fruit or vegetable. (for example - one baby carrot, one grape, a cube of cantaloupe, ...).  You don't have to send anything special, the children can share what they brought for a snack (but only if they want to).

SUMMER PHOTO
All the children were asked to send one photo of themselves to school that shows them having fun in the summer.  Here is my photo, taken on my granddaughter Rowan's first birthday.  It was lots of fun!

Learning's Fun ~ In Grade One! June 29, 2018

FINAL POSTING FOR THE SUMMER

Have a wonderful summer holiday and may God continue to bless and watch over you and your families.

I loved teaching your child this year.  We had lot of fun and had lots of learning going on each day in school.  The children have all grown and matured so much over the past ten months and I know that they will be excellent grade two students.  I will miss them and your family next year.  But I will still get to teach them in art class!

Thank you for all of the thoughtful, beautiful and delicious gifts that I received from you and your child on the last day of school.  I also appreciated your kind words and cards very much.

I did send home some "homework" for the summer.  There is a set of addition flashcards for your child to cut apart and use for practising their math facts.  Please help them write the correct answer on the back of each card and practice them each day.  The Manitoba government has put "memorizing math facts" back into the curriculum outcomes for grade one.

Here are some photos from our Field Trip to Oak Hammock Marsh
Thank you to all of the parents who drove and chaperoned for us.
